The above image speaks a lot about our team’s record in SENA countries. Though it looks a tad too bad, all teams do struggle in such alien conditions. In India, cricketers since their first-class days, play in dust bowls (spinning tracks) so these players entering into the test team perform well on home soil but as soon as they go for an overseas tour, their techniques get exposed and they are not able to score those efficient runs. Someone Like Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli also have faced such problems during their heydays. As a player you need to make those small adjustments like in seaming conditions, a batsman playing late, close to his body efficiently could negate the swinging delivery, and in bouncy tracks where the variable bounce is present the batsman should play late and if you are a back-foot player it’s a bonus as you can transfer your weight easily to play pull shots, but you should also be ready to take few blows more often or not as it is quite difficult to predict the bounce whereas, for a bowler, he should be able to get his line and lengths perfectly. Also, different manufacturers supply balls to different nations and balls behave differently in different conditions.

What happened during these 7 wins was a team effort. In all these wins one of the batsmen played a big inning, the other made valuable contributions due to which team total was posted and later bowlers did their jobs decimating the opponents batting lineup. But as this core started fading away our “SENA” chances just became aspirations.
But after that historic Australian tour of 2020, where we won the series without our first choice 11 against a full-strength Australian team, despite being down and out after the first test, after that humiliating nightmare-36/9, shocked the world cricket, the chances of winning in SENA countries has considerably increased.
